Hurricane Melissa Relief

October, 2025

When Hurricane Melissa tore through the Caribbean in October, Jamaica faced one of the most powerful and devastating storms in its history. What began as a tropical system quickly intensified into a Category 5 hurricane, slamming into the island with winds exceeding 185 mph, torrential rain, and widespread flooding.

Entire communities especially across St. Elizabeth, Westmoreland, and Manchester parishes wereleft in ruins. Homes were flattened, lives lost , roads washed away, crops destroyed, and families displaced overnight. For many Jamaicans, Melissa wasn’t just a natural disaster it was a life-altering event that took away livelihoods, security, and in some cases, loved ones.

Our immediate response is focused on three key priorities:

    1.    Emergency Relief: Delivering essential supplies such as water, food, and hygiene kits to families most affected by Hurricane Melissa.

    2.    Health & Wellness Support: Coordinating with local clinics to provide medical aid, trauma counseling, and preventive health education.

    3.    Rebuilding for Sustainability: Once the immediate crisis stabilizes, ThriveWell will help restore schools, community gardens, and clean-water systems ensuring that communities are rebuilt stronger and more resilient than before.

We are also partnering with local and international organizations to maximize our impact. Collaboration is key during crises like this so we’re working hand-in-hand with relief networks, churches, and volunteers both in Jamaica and abroad.
